Writing Prompts: Pictures of People

My current WIP was inspired by a picture of an Afghan Girl by Steve McCurry, which appeared on the cover of National Geographic in 1985. She inspired the heroine in my Novel Sakhira, and the story grew around her.

Amazing pictures of people are powerful writing prompts. Below are 3 pictures of very different people. Take a moment to look at the pictures, and to ask yourself the following questions.1) Who is this person?

1. What is his / her name?
   
2. Vital stats: Name; Age; description of appearance
   
3. How did they get to this place?
4. Where do they live?
5. Do they have a job, and if so, what is it?
   
6. What do they do?
   
7. Who is in their family (if they have one?
8. What are their hopes and dreams?
   
9. What did they do today?
10. What drives them?
11. What makes them unique / interesting
12. Finally, think of a situation, and how they would react, and you're now well on your way to writing a story.
